Akshay Kumar to have yet another flop on the way? His latest release Selfiee's advance bookings bear bad news
Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi's Selfiee witnesses an underwhelming advance booking collections.
Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi ’s much-awaited film Selfiee is all set to be released today (February 24). While all eyes are on the movie’s box office collections to see whether it finally manages to break Akshay’s unsuccessful streak at the box office, we are afraid that there might be disappointing news for his fans. Reportedly, the advance bookings of the movie have rather received an underwhelming response.
According to a news report in Pinkvilla, the Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi starrer has just managed to sell 6,500 tickets in the three national chains until 10 pm last night. The report further added that the numbers are expected to increase to 8000 tickets. This might bear bad news for Akshay because thus advance booking report is not just lukewarm but is also lower than the advance bookings of all his films that were released last year. Not only this but the numbers is also less than Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada which sold 30,000 tickets but turned out to be a box office flop.
The report further added that the film will be released on 2000 screens nationwide and that it was a conscious decision of the makers to open the advance bookings late so that Selfiee gains more anticipation due to the promotional activities. Now, all eyes are on the spot bookings of the movie which is required to be good for the film to have a stable first-day collection. Reportedly, the predictions for the opening day collections of Selfiee are said to be Rs 4 crore.
Apart from this, the report also stated that one of the main reasons why the advance bookings of Selfiee have garnered a poor response is that the audience might likely wish to watch it on its OTT release. Well, now it will be interesting to see how the movie will fare since it also does not have very strict competition during its release week. The movie also stars Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha in the lead roles.
