Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi was touted to make its world theatrical debut during the Diwali holiday. As things stand right now, this is not possible.

According to some industry sources, Lyca Productions may postpone the release to a later date owing to several reasons. One of the main reasons is that Vettaiyan, starring Superstar Rajinikanth, will not arrive in cinemas during the Puja holidays as expected earlier. It's said that the producers are now considering the last week of October to release the movie, coinciding with the Diwali celebration. Should this news come to pass, it will automatically postpone the release of Vidaamuyarchi as both these movies are bankrolled by Lyca Productions.

Vidaamuyarchi and Vettaiyan shoulder the huge responsibility of giving Lyca Productions the much-needed break, as it has been going through a rough phase since the beginning of this year. The last few productions of the company failed to fetch the desired results, reportedly causing financial hardships for the company. Especially, the company seemed to have fallen on hard times after Lal Salaam, directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, didn't perform as well as expected. The film's reception at the box office was poor, and it garnered mixed reactions. The performance was so disappointing that it has still not been able to find a home on a streaming platform, despite featuring Rajinikanth in an extended cameo.

Its impact on the company was such that Lyca reportedly put the production of Vidaamuyarchi on hold due to a cash crunch. Lyca's Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan and helmed by Shankar, also ended up as a huge disappointment at the box office.

In light of its prestigious and big-budget productions tanking at the box office, the success of Vidaamuyarchi and Vettaiyan is very crucial for the company's well-being.
