The star-studded cast of Thalapathy Vijay’s highly anticipated film, Thalapathy 69, continues to grow. Director and actor Gautham Vasudev Menon has officially joined the project, marking his second onscreen collaboration with Vijay after their recent film Leo (2023), directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Thalapathy 69 is helmed by H. Vinoth and is already creating massive buzz in the industry.
Gautham Menon joins a stellar lineup, which includes Bollywood actor Bobby Deol, who has been cast as the film’s antagonist, as well as popular actresses Pooja Hegde and Mamitha Baiju. Pooja Hegde, who previously worked with Vijay in Beast (2022), is making her second appearance alongside the star. The chemistry between Vijay and Pooja in their previous collaboration was well-received by fans.
Mamitha Baiju was last seen in Premalu, which became one of the highest earns in Malayalam cinema. Thalapathy 69 will be her second film in Tamil after Rebal, in which she shared screen space with GV Prakash Kumar.
Thalapathy 69 is expected to offer a fresh take on the action-drama genre with potential political undertones, as it's believed to be Vijay’s last film before he steps fully into the political arena.
Bobby Deol's casting has already generated significant excitement as he takes on his second Tamil film after Kanguva.
With such an ensemble, Thalapathy 69 promises to be a grand cinematic experience. The film is expected to go into production soon, with each cast reveal adding to the anticipation. Produced by KVN Productions, the movie will hit the screens in October next year.
Thalapathy Vijay was last seen in The Greatest of All Time (aka The GOAT). The movie became available for streaming on Netflix on Thursday, even as it continues to draw large audiences in theatres across Tamil Nadu. While The GOAT was well-received by Tamil audiences, it underperformed in other regions.
