    The 70th National Film Awards winners have been announced. Kannada cinema has emerged as the big winner this year, with films from the industry bagging the top awards. The National Film Awards were announced by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Friday.

    Kannada cinema wins big

    Kantara

    It is a moment of pride for the Kannada Film Industry (KFI), as the top films that bagged the awards were Yash’s KGF Chapter 2 and Rishab Shetty’s Kantara. The Press Information Bureau of the Government of India announced that the Best Actor award has been secured by Rishab Shetty for his impressive performance in the Kannada film Kantara. The film also won Best Entertaining Film at the 70th National Film Awards.

    Kantara, which was written, directed, and starred in, by Rishab Shetty, was bankrolled under the Hombale Films production banner. The film narrates the story of a tribal community, weaving together their beliefs, rights, and conflicts with a forest officer.

    KGF Chapter 2

    Yash’s KGF Chapter 2, on the other hand, which became a blockbuster following its release, has now achieved another feat by winning the Best Kannada Film and Best Action Direction (Stunt Choreography) categories in the Feature Films section at the 70th National Film Awards.

    KGF Chapter 2, directed by Prashanth Neel, starred Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, Raveena Tandon, and Prakash Raj in key roles. The film revolves around Rocky (played by Yash), who, after winning over the people of KGF, now dreams big and leads a more intense life.

    Kannada fans celebrate the win

    Kannada movie fans have been celebrating following the announcements of the awards. Many took to their social media handles to express their joy over their favorite stars winning big at the National Film Awards this year.

    Jury members led by Rahul Rawail (chairperson for Feature Film), Nila Madhab Panda (chairperson for Non-Feature Film), and Gangadhar Mudalair (chairperson for Best Writing on Cinema), chose the winners from a large number of films.
