7 years of Piku: Before Uunchai, Parineeti Chopra lost the chance to work with Amitabh Bachchan in Piku to Deepika Padukone
Parineeti Chopra had once confessed she regretted not being able to do Piku. The Shoojit Sircar film completes 7 years since release today.
One of the most endearing and real characters of Deepika Padukone ’s film career has been in the movie Piku. Everything from her performance, chemistry with co-stars Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan to the story and portrayal of the movie was perfect.
The film directed by Shoojit Sircar beautifully puts on display the bond between a father and a daughter as they head out on a road-trip from Delhi to Kolkata. From Filmfare Awards to National Film Awards, Piku won all kinds of acknowledgements for being the endearing drama that it was.
However, did you know instead of Deepika Padukone being the first choice for the movie, it was Parineeti Chopra who first approached to play Piku in the film. The movie, it turns out ended up being a project that Parineeti regretted not being a part of later.
Parineeti had named Piku as a movie which she regretted rejecting on the chat show BFF's with Vogue, hosted by Neha Dhupia a few years ago. Parineeti, however, clarified that she had not out and out refused the project but since she was busy with another project, she lost out on this one.
The project Parineeti was working on while Piku slipped through her hands also didn’t work out eventually leading to a double loss the actress. On the show Parineeti had said, “I didn’t really turn down the film… there was a confusion. I was going to do another film at the same time and then that film also didn’t happen, so it was my loss.”
Well, Parineeti’s loss became a big gain for Deepika and the rest is history. However, Parineeti has earned a second chance to work with Amitabh Bachchan as she's doing Sooraj Barjatya 's Uunchai with him. The film wrapped up production recently.
