Zaheer Iqbal reveals he wanted to elope with Sonakshi Sinha | Here's why the plan was cancelled

Actress Sonakshi Sinha and actor Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot in a civil ceremony on June 23 at her home in Mumbai. The couple had an intimate wedding attended by their close friends and family that was followed by a grand party at Bastian, Mumbai. Speaking about their ideas for marriage, Sonakshi revealed that it was her idea to have an intimate wedding, while Zaheer said that he wanted to elope with her, get married outside the country and come back.

When Zaheer wanted to elope with Sonakshi

During an interview with Galatta India, the couple was asked if the plan was always to have an intimate wedding with fewer people. The actress replied that it was always her plan and Zaheer revealed that he wanted to elope. He added that he wanted to go out of the country, get married and then come back. The actor concluded by saying that he later found out that such a wedding would not be valid in India, hence that plan was canceled.

Sonakshi wanted an intimate wedding

Sonakshi added to Zaheer’s statement by saying she always wanted an intimate wedding and Zaheer is okay if his most important people are there, which is his friends and family who were there at the ceremony. She also added that they opened the celebrations to all the people who have been part of their lives and that is how they always wanted it to be. She added, “Zaheer aur Sona ki shaadi mein party toh banti hai. You know it has to be one big party and it was exactly how it was, and we had a blast, everyone over there had an amazing time which is exactly how I wanted it.”

Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot on June 23 in an ivory-themed civil ceremony, and posted the pictures on their social media handles. Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot after 7 years of dating. The ceremony was attended by Sonakshi's parents and her friends such as actress Huma Qureshi, her brother Saqib Saleem, and actress Aditi Rao Hydari, among others.
