The third episode of Karan Johar ’s chat show Koffee With Karan Season 7 featured Akshay Kumar and Samantha Ruth Prabhu . During the show, Akshay recalled a funny anecdote from his 2002 supernatural action thriller film Jaani Dushman. When asked about how secure he is as an actor to work with an ensemble cast. The actor revealed that it was this 7-hero film that earned him extra money to let him buy the house he now lives in.
For the unversed, Jaani Dushman is directed and produced by Rajkumar Kohli. It features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Arshad Warsi , Aftab Shivdasani , Sonu Nigam , Aditya Pancholi, Armaan Kohli, and Manisha Koirala in prominent roles. In the film, Akshay was killed off and then resurrected.

Akshay explained how the film had a bigger effect on the actor’s life. "I was working on a per-day fee, and there was a scene where the villain kills me, and I am dead. I learned that the other hero, who will be acting now, got stuck in New York and could not make it in time. I went up to the director and asked him if I had to come back again."
Further, the Sooryavanshi actor said that the director changed the screenplay and he was no longer dead but shifted into a coma. This change gave him a chance to shoot for an additional five days and earn more money. Later, he revealed that the extra money he earned from this film let him buy his own bungalow. Akshay even went on to disclose the actor's name after Samantha asked him to. He said it was Sunny Deol , who was undergoing back surgery at the time therefore he couldn't make it to the shoot for the film.
