Will Yudhra help Siddhant Chaturvedi resurrect his career? Trade experts weigh in
Despite the presence of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in Gully Boy, the ‘then- debutante’ Siddhant Chaturvedi not just held his own, but also showed immense promise as the next big thing in Bollywood. What followed after Gully Boy were films like Bunty Aur Babli 2, Gehraiyaan, Phone Bhoot and others.
This week will see the release of Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavika Mohanan starrer Yudhra, which also stars Raghav Juyal, Gajraj Rao, Ram Kapoor, Raj Arjun, Shilpa Shukla and others. While the film has been directed by Ravi Udyawar, it has been produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
With the release of Siddhant Chaturvedi starrer Yudhra just around the corner, here’s what the trade experts felt about the film as well as Siddhant Chaturvedi.
Atul Mohan, Movie Business Analyst
He was touted as the next big thing in Bollywood. He gave a good challenge to Ranveer Singh as well in the film Gully Boy. This is one film trying to tap the potential of Siddhant Chaturvedi as far as action is concerned. At this moment, action films like Kill are doing extremely well at the box office. And also, in Yudhra as well, one is getting the flavour of Kill as well!
The film should easily sail through at the box office. It seems to have everything that the masses want. The visuals are good, action is fab, lavishly shot action sequences. In my opinion, everything is in the right place as far as the film is concerned.
What will and can also work in the favour of the film is the fact that the Rs. 99 only offer which will soon start on Cinema Day, will help Yudhra in a big way. This will draw the audiences inside the theatres. And, if the film is good, then, the word of mouth will surely help the film to hit the bull’s eye.
The prospects are definitely bright for the film as well as Siddhant Chaturvedi. The film Yudhra definitely has the potential to make Rs. 100 crores at the box office. Siddhant Chaturvedi comes across as a boy next door and also more popular than Lakshya Advani. End of the day, what matters is the film in totality. Yudhra can definitely be a career defining film for Siddhant Chaturvedi!

I have not seen the film. That’s why commenting on the film about how it will fare will not be right on my part. It is a solo film. That’s why one needs lots of pulling power to attract the audiences. Lot of people make this mistake of attributing the success of a film to one particular person. Even though Siddhant Chaturvedi showed immense promise in Gully Boy, the film also had Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. One just should not forget that. But, to think that he will make it to a solo lead is a little far fetched.
Girish Wankhede, Movie Trade Analyst
I think the film is looking ok, just another film from a production house which is known to do great films. The film Yudhra has all the sleekness, production value and all the razzmatazz a great product should have. But the stardom which is needed to pull the audiences to the cinema is lacking. Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malvika Mohanan are not that huge stars who can pull the cinegoers to the cinema halls.
One needs a bigger star push. That stardom is missing in Yudhra. And also, the film looks too ambitious. It looks like too much riding on the new on-screen pair. It will take time for the film to grow on audiences.
It’s not that Siddhant Chaturvedi is not being offered films. He needs to rethink about the kind of films that he should be a part of. It seems that there is ambiguity. I feel that he should be concentrating on one thing at a time.
