When will Kalki 2898 AD stream? Expected OTT release date for Prabhas-Kamal Haasan epic

The latest Telugu blockbuster, Kalki 2898 AD, is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office. Starring Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone, Kalki 2898 AD will witness an extended stay in theatres, defying the current streaming trends.

According to sources close to the film's production house, unlike most new South movies, Kalki 2898 AD's streaming debut will not happen after a four-week theatrical run. It will stay off the OTT platforms for at least 10 weeks. This means that streaming audiences won't be able to see the movie at home until September.

Kalki 2898 AD is the number one Indian movie globally, leading the box office with more than Rs 1000 crore in ticket sales. Initially, Kalki 2898 AD's performance was expected to be affected by the release of Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan. However, the poor reviews for Indian 2 have only boosted Kalki 2898 AD's performance. The original Telugu blockbuster is also outperforming Indian 2 in Tamil Nadu.

Kalki 2898 AD became the second movie in Prabhas' career to gross more than Rs 1000 crore at the box office, following Baahubali 2 in 2017. Prabhas has enjoyed nationwide popularity for nearly a decade, though his last few movies failed to match the success of Baahubali 2, both critically and commercially.

Kalki 2898 AD has given Prabhas' career a much-needed boost, emerging as a bonafide blockbuster. The epic sci-fi movie was made on a whopping budget of over Rs 600 crore and has grossed nearly Rs 700 crore in India alone. The phenomenal success of this movie has ensured a bigger opening for Kalki 2898 AD part 2.
