Actor Manju Warrier's popularity has soared following the success of the song Manasilaayo from the upcoming movie Vettaiyan. Though the song primarily centres around Rajinikanth's larger-than-life persona, Manju Warrier stole the show with her graceful dance moves, charisma, and swag.
Despite working in the film industry for nearly three decades, Manju revealed that she only met Rajinikanth for the first time on the sets of Vettaiyan during a look test. She was struck by the superstar’s humility.
"He (Rajinikanth) was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. So down-to-earth," she said in an interview with Sun Music.
Having worked with several leading superstars across various film industries, Manju noted one commonality among icons like Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Ajith Kumar, Mohanlal, and Mammootty: their humility. "They all compete with each other when it comes to being down-to-earth. It’s something we should all learn from them. You might think you're humble, but meeting them makes you realize you have a long way to go," she added.
Interestingly, Manju revealed that when she accepted the role in Vettaiyan, she was unaware she would be sharing screen space with Rajinikanth. "Gnanavel sir called me to offer the movie. I immediately said yes because I loved his debut film, Jai Bhim. Then he told me I would be working with Rajinikanth sir, and I was speechless," she recalled.
Manju plays Rajinikanth’s on-screen wife in Vettaiyan, a film that revolves around the controversies surrounding police encounters. Rajinikanth portrays a revered top cop famous for his daring encounters. The star-studded cast also includes Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan. Vettaiyan is set to release in cinemas on October 10.
