Telugu actor Vishnu Manchu revealed on Friday that he will unveil the teaser for his upcoming mythological drama, Kannappa, next week. The teaser, which was showcased at the recently concluded Cannes Film Festival, will be launched online on June 14.
"After an overwhelming reception at Cannes, I am thrilled to share the teaser for this epic tale, Kannappa, with you on June 14. This film holds a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to welcome you all to the captivating world of #Kannappa," wrote Vishnu Manchu.
Vishnu earlier announced that he would hold a special screening of the teaser for a select audience as a note of appreciation for their constant support on social media. He stated that his team would handpick people from social media who had been contributing to the film's online popularity.
Kannappa is the most ambitious movie in Vishnu's career. Recently, fantasy movies and mythological dramas have seen great success at the Indian box office, and Kannappa seems to pack all the elements needed to resonate with the masses.
The film's massive scale and scope are supported by a formidable star cast. While Vishnu plays the lead, he has also roped in some of the leading names from across the Indian film industry to play key cameos.
Telugu superstar Prabhas and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal are part of the star cast, and Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has also played an extended cameo in the movie. He was brought in to play a role originally earmarked for Kannada movie star Shivarajkumar.
Kannappa will mark Akshay's debut in Telugu cinema.
In addition to playing the lead role and producing the film, Vishnu has also penned the screenplay. The cast includes Kajal Aggarwal, R. Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, and Madhoo, among others. The film is expected to hit the screens later this year.
