Vir Das announces his fifth venture with the OTT major Netflix; calls it ‘comedy special’
Ace actor cum stand-up artist Vir Das needs absolutely no introduction. Only recently, he added yet another feather in his cap by becoming the first Indian to host the prestigious International Emmy for Comedy this year. Only last year, he had bagged the International Emmy Award.
This time round, the ace comedian actor has joined hands with the OTT major Netflix for a one-of-a-kind comedy, which has so far been untitled. On his part, Vir Das took to social media and shared the good news which was posted by Netflix.
The said post was captioned as, ‘It’s official! After winning hearts, smiles and an International Emmy, Vir Das is coming back to Netflix with an exciting comedy special and we’re here for it’.
In no time, there were many social media users who took to social media and shared their compliments in the form of their comments for Vir Das’ yet another achievement.
One user posted, ‘Vir Das, who is known for his witty observations on Indian culture, politics, and society, often delivered with a satirical edge, has always performed his comedy routines in numerous countries, garnering a global fanbase. Known for his engaging stage presence and his ability to connect with audiences from diverse backgrounds, he has been vocal about social issues and has used his platform to raise awareness about important causes. One really feels that, with his new series on Netflix, he will only raise the standards’.
Another user posted, ‘We have seen him doing lovely and lively stuff in films like Delhi Belly, Badmaash Company, Hasmukh, the ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat and many others. On his part, Vir Das, in a media note stated that comedy had the power to bring people together, no matter where they’re from and that, with this special, they were trying to bring something fresh to comedy by sharing stories and experiences that celebrate love and kindness while showing that laughter really is a universal language.
He added that the said series would be an unapologetic direct shot of happiness to the heart and that he was honored to be able to showcase Indian comedy on a global stage and he couldn’t wait for audiences everywhere to join him on this journey.
