Vikram Vedha: Hrithik Roshan starrer film's budget rises twofold after THIS demand made by actor
Vikram Vedha also stars Saif Ali Khan and is slated to hit theatres on September 30.
Hrithik Roshan ’s Vikram Vedha is being touted as the actor’s most expensive film of his career. Earlier, the makers decided to complete the film on a limited budget, but after the actor allegedly refused to shoot in Uttar Pradesh, the film’s budget has risen twofold. Reportedly, it has crossed the budget of the Hrithik starrer War and Mohenjo Daro .
The much-awaited drama is the official Hindi remake of R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi’s Tamil movie of the same name. The film will see Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan share screen space for the first time. The original movie was made on the budget of 11 crores and earned Rs 60 crores at the box office. As per reports from a news portal, the writer-director duo wanted to complete the film with a budget more than that of the Tamil movie, however, less than usual Hrithik’s movie.
Reportedly, the makers had scheduled a shoot in the lanes of UP, similar to that of the original movie keeping a gritty look. But Hrithik refused to shoot in the UP lanes and instead asked the makers to recreate the lanes of UP with lavish sets in Dubai. The change in the film's schedule and the addition of new sets have reportedly shot up the film's budget. It is now reported to be around 175 crores. To note, Hrithik’s War was made on the budget of 158 crores.
For the uninitiated, Vikram Vedha is based on the Indian folk tale of Vikram and Betaal. It follows the story of a tough police officer who sets out to track down and kill an equally tough gangster. Produced by YNOT Studios, Reliance Entertainment , T-Series, and Plan C Studios, the movie is scheduled to hit the silver screens on September 30.
Besides Vikram Vedha, Hrithik will also be seen in Siddharth Anand’s Fighter alongside Deepika Padukone .
