Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi unveiled a new trailer for his upcoming movie, Maharaja, on Tuesday, just two days ahead of its release. In the latest trailer, Bollywood actor-director Anurag Kashyap gets more prominence, as he only made a blink-and-miss appearance in the previous one.

Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja continues to pressure the police department to intensify their search for 'Lakshmi,' who remains mysterious even in the new trailer. "My daughter will ask for Lakshmi soon after she returns from the camp," Maharaja implores the cops, forcing them to take his complaint seriously.

Maharaja seems to employ all tricks in the book to compel the cops to shake off their bureaucratic inertia and crack the missing case of 'Lakshmi.' He even goes so far as bribing the authorities and requesting the investigative officer to transfer the case to the CBI, only to receive a tight slap across the face.

Judging from the trailer, Anurag Kashyap seems to play the role of a cold-blooded dacoit. He appears to be a pro at breaking into the houses of urban dwellers, taking them hostage, and robbing them of their wealth, mostly jewellery. It's safe to assume that he ends up robbing something very valuable from Maharaja. However, Maharaja is not like his other victims. He seems determined to go to great lengths to get his pound of flesh.

The film dwells on the classic themes of a good guy seeking revenge against a bad man. However, director-writer Nithilan Saminathan may surprise and subvert our expectations with his storytelling skills.

The new trailer promises several memorable performances from its cast, besides Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap. The movie also stars Natty (Natraj), Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Mamta Mohandas, Singampuli, Aruldoss, and Munishkanth, among others.

Maharaja is due in cinemas on June 14.
