Vicky Kaushal reveals Sam Manekshaw’s daughter's response to Tauba Tauba song - ‘You can’t be doing this now’

Vicky Kaushal is one of the leading actors of Bollywood who has proven his acting mettle and showcased his dancing talents in his recently released film Bad Newz. Vicky became an internet sensation soon after his song Tauba Tauba was released and the actor earned praises for his smooth dance moves, which are difficult to replicate. Speaking of Tauba Tauba, Vicky recently revealed that Former Chief of Army Staff, Sam Manekshaw’s daughter, Maya texted the actor saying, ‘you can’t be doing this now’ after she watched the song.

During a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Vicky opened up about a conversation he had with Sam Manekshaw’s daughter, Maya who texted him after watching his song Tauba Tauba. Vicky revealed that Maya texted him and wrote, ‘Who is this guy?’ which confused the actor but later Maya added, ‘Five months ago, you made me believe you were my father; you can’t be doing this now,” which made Vicky laugh. The actor added that the text message felt like the biggest compliment to him.

For those unaware, Vicky portrayed the role of Former Chief of Army Staff, Sam Manekshaw in Meghna Gulzar’s 2023-released film Sam Bahadur. During the shooting of the film, the actor also formed a rapport with Sam’s family and his daughter Maya who texted him after his latest film, Bad Newz, released in theatres.

Speaking about the film and director Meghna Gulzar, Vicky once said that it was a nerve-wracking experience, but he felt lucky to have been in the capable hands of Meghna Gulzar. He said, “My parents used to tell me how they would study in dark rooms, hide in the storeroom, and anxiously wait for Sam Sir’s instructions on the radio. Growing up with these stories and then getting the opportunity to play him on screen felt like such a huge responsibility.”

Sam Bahadur did not perform at the box office after facing a clash with Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal but Vicky was appreciated for his portrayal of Sam Manekshaw and his dedication towards the role.
