Vettaiyan: Rajinikanth heaps praise on 'incredible artist' Fahadh Faasil; 'I have never met such a natural...'

Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Vettaiyan is gearing up for a grand Dussehra release on October 10, 2024. Ahead of its release, the film has already garnered a massive pre-sales collection and is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of the year. At a recent audio launch event, Rajinikanth praised his co-star Fahadh Faasil's performance, calling him the most "natural" actor he has ever encountered.

The superstar expressed amazement at Fahadh's acting prowess, saying, "Fahadh Faasil has taken on an exceptional character in this film. When the makers first told me about the character, I was curious to see who they would cast. The director then said, ‘We don’t need to look around or ask any other actor. This role is meant for Fahadh Faasil.'"

Rajinikanth added that Fahadh's performance truly astonished him. He added, "I was surprised because the character is more of an entertainer, and I had only seen Fahadh in two Tamil films; Vikram and Maamannan, where he played serious and villainous roles. What an incredible artist he is! I have never met such a natural talent in my life. He truly defies the description."

For context, Fahadh Faasil will be taking on a comedic role as Patrick in Vettaiyan, marking a departure from the serious characters he has usually essayed. In this cop-action drama, his humorous role is completely different from the villainous roles he is known for in Tamil cinema. Rajinikanth will play an encounter specialist fighting for justice, while Fahadh’s character is expected to be a close aide to him in this TJ Gnanavel film.

Vettaiyan’s impressive advance booking

According to reports, the film has grossed ₹5.5 crore in Tamil Nadu and ₹50 lakh in Kerala, selling 26,000 tickets for the first day. In the US, the movie has generated $5 million in pre-sales. Trade analysts predict the film will gross ₹125 crore worldwide on its opening day and surpass ₹250 crore by the end of its first weekend.

Vettaiyan recently completed its censor formalities and received a U/A certificate, with a runtime of 2 hours and 43 minutes.
