Vaadi Vaasal: When will the Suriya-starrer commence shooting? Director Vetrimaaran reveals key details

The much-awaited village drama Vaadi Vaasal, helmed by celebrated director Vetrimaaran with Suriya in the lead role, was announced several months ago. However, the team has not made any official announcements yet. Nonetheless, the film has regained attention after director Vetrimaaran, in a recent interview, revealed key details about it.

The director disclosed that the Suriya-starrer is still in its pre-production stage, and he will commence shooting for the rural drama in the next three months. Additionally, he also mentioned that there are only 20 days left to finish filming his long-delayed sequel Viduthalai Part 2, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Soori. Hence, the highly-anticipated film with Surya has been promised to begin shortly!

Key cast members for Vaadi Vaasal

It was earlier reported that the Suriya-starrer will have director-turned-actor Ameer Sultan playing a pivotal role. According to the latest reports, it is speculated that the actor will be portraying the main antagonist in the film. Meanwhile, a few sources also report that actress Andrea Jeremiah has been roped in to play the female lead opposite Suriya. GV Prakash Kumar is scoring the music for the film, which is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under the banner of V Creations.

Suriya-starrer upcoming rural drama, Vaadi Vaasal, is based on the ancient sporting event Jallikattu, which is extensively organized on Mattu Pongal day in Tamil Nadu. Suriya has undergone Jallikattu training to ace his role in Vaadi Vaasal. The actor even adopted a Jallikattu bull, initially used in the sport, and has been practicing with the animal for quite some time. A special video featuring Suriya and the bull was unveiled earlier by the makers. Along with the intense Jallikattu preparations, the leading man is also set to sport two unique looks in the movie, featuring him in the roles of a father and son.
