Usha Uthup honoured with Padma Awards: Some of her memorable songs which is still adored by music enthusiasts

Veteran singer Usha Uthup has been conferred with the Padma Awards 2024 for her glorious contribution to the music industry. She is often credited with being the pioneer of laying the foundation of the jazz style of music in Indian cinema. She blessed us with many hit and catchy songs between the 1960s to 1980s. Naache Naache (Disco Dancer)

This catchy disco song was from the 1982 film Disco Dancer. It was picturized on Mithun Chakraborty and is still touted as one of the best tracks in the disco genre. Usha co-sang the track along with the late Bappi Lahiri.

Doston Se Pyaar Kiya (Shaan)

The dance number is from the 1980 film Shaan. The music was composed by the legendary RD Burman. The lyrics were penned by Anand Bakshi.

Ramba Ho Ho (Armaan)

The evergreen song is from the 1981 film Armaan and is still considered to be one of the peppiest dance numbers out there. It is another successful collaboration between Uthup and the late Bappi Da. The lyrics were penned by Indeevar.

Hare Rama Hare Krishna (Hare Rama Hare Krishna)

The unique track is one of the biggest hits from the 1971 cult film Hare Rama Hare Krishna which featured Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman in the lead roles. Usha crooned the number with the legendary Asha Bhosle. The song was composed by RD Burman.

Darling (7 Khoon Maaf)

The popular song from the Priyanka Chopra starrer 7 Khoon Maaf was a huge hit. The track was co-sung by Rekha Bharadwaj. Interestingly Uthup also starred in the Vishal Bharadwaj directorial film wherein she played the role of Priyanka’s maid.

Hari Om Hari (Pyara Dushman)

The song was from the 1980 film Pyara Dushman. The song was composed by Bappi Lahiri. The lyrics were penned by Anjaan.
