'Top Gun copied': Hrithik and Deepika are fierce as Air Force officers in Fighter; netizens react to first look poster

On the occasion of Independence Day, the makers of Fighter dropped the first look motion poster featuring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor. The motion poster began with a few fighter jets flying in the air and Hrithik emerged as a fighter pilot in the action film. Following him, Deepika and Anil could be seen in the uniform apparently jetting off for a mission.
Sharing the poster on Instagram, Deepika wrote, “A salute to our glorious nation. Happy Independence Day!🇮🇳#Fighter in theatres on the eve of India’s 75th Republic Day.#25thJanuary2024.” Soon after, fans flood the comment section in excitement. One of the fans wrote, “Damn that’s some cast! I wasn’t really ready for that tune for Vande Mataram, but it does have a nice ring to it..” Another fan added, “Terrific bgm after war and pathaan .this is gone be action spectacular waiting.”
On the other hand, a section of netizens were reminded of the Hollywood flick Top Gun starring Tom Cruise as the poster unveiled. “Why is it giving Top Gun vibes!!” reacted a user. The second user commented, “Indian version of TOP GUN.” “For a moment I almost thought we had Tom cruise in this,” reacted a user. “Top gun sasta copy,” read a comment.
Earlier, Hrithik had shared his first look in a pilot's gear. For the unversed, the film, directed by Siddharth Anand, marks his first collaboration with Deepika. He worked with Siddharth in War co-starring Tiger Shroff. Meanwhile, Fighter was originally scheduled for a theatrical release in September 2022, however, it got delayed due to the Covid pandemic. It is now scheduled to hit theatres on January 25, 2023.
