Bollywood actresses Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha and Aditi Rao Hydari are gearing up for the release of their upcoming web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, on Netflix. Busy promoting the release of this Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed series, Aditi Rao Hydari revealed that hearing the acclaimed director speak about the world of Heeramandi would sometimes leave her teary-eyed.

During a conversation with Sucharita Tyagi, Aditi was asked about her royal lineage and the stories that have come down to her through generations. Replying to the question, Aditi said that there are many stories and also recalled that her maternal grandfather was one of the first princes who signed the Indian Succession Act. Drawing a connection between her maternal grandfather and the world of Heeramandi, Aditi said that she feels a lot about this issue and hearing director Sanjay Leela Bhansali speak about Heeramandi used to sometimes move her to tears.
Speaking further about her grandfather, Aditi said, “He was very young at that time and Prime Minister Nehru came to a place called Wanaparthy and Wanaparthy Palace was handed over to the government to become a college for education. He was a socialist.”

For the unversed, Aditi is the daughter of Hindustani singer Vidya Rao and Ehsan Hydari of the Tyabji family. Vidya is the daughter of J Rameshwar Rao, the former Raja of Wanaparthy, once a significant estate under the Nizam of Hyderabad.
