'This is shameful' : Netizens troll Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt for dancing on Katrina Kaif's Chikni Chameli in Brahmastra

The much-awaited Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra released today (September 9) and while the craze around the same is truly palpable, it has left the netizens divided. Now another reason why the movie has come under the scanner for a rather negative reason is one of the scenes where Ranbir and Alia’s characters can be seen dancing to Katrina Kaif ’s popular dance number ‘Chikni Chameli’ from Agneepath. The scene has also been leaked and has been going viral wherein the lead pair Shiva and Isha can be seen dancing in the song in an orphanage.

While some netizens started criticizing the makers for using a dance number in a movie that is supposed to be a celebration of India’s mythology and divine Astras, others also started trolling Ranbir Kapoor for dancing to a song that belongs to his ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif. Some users pointed out how characters who are named after Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are being made to dance on ‘Chikni Chameli’, calling the scene ‘shameful.’ While others mocked Ranbir for dancing in his ex’s song in front of his now partner with many saying that the sequence was also an insult to Katrina’s brilliant act in the song. One of the netizens said, “This is shamfull. This film #Brahmashtra has nothing to do with Hinduism maker's just playing with emotions of people at the name of hinduism. Chikni chameli by shiva and parvati. Great.” Another user stated, “Will have to watch actual chikni chameli thrice to recover from what i just saw.” A netizen added, “How they Can show Shiva and Parvati dancing on song like #ChikniChameli ?? Don't they feel shameless ?? Shivji chikni chameli pe naach rahe he waaah. Ye kjo hi dikha sakta he.”

The movie has been receiving a mixed response from both the critics and the audiences alike. All eyes are also on the box office collection of the same. The movie has been helmed by Ayan Mukerji.
