After a decade-long court trial coming to an end, Sooraj Pancholi has finally opened up about his side of the story. The actor was accused of abetting the late actress Jiah Khan’s suicide in 2013. It was on April 28, 2023, i.e. on Friday that he was acquitted by a special CBI court in the case. He said that he could now look at his parents in the eye and the moment he entered the house after the acquittal, it was closure for him.

In a recent interview with Etimes, Sooraj said that he didn’t want to share his inner turmoil even with his parents.“On Friday, after a decade I looked my parents in the eye. We wouldn’t speak about this case (Jiah Khan) in the house. I would discuss it with my lawyers, but never with my family. My mother wanted to accompany me to court for the verdict, so you saw her there. My sister stayed with my father at home. For 10 years, I went to the court alone. I didn’t want them to see what I was facing in court or going through in life. I don’t vent, I have trained myself to be this way. The only time I cried was when I entered my house after the acquittal. That was closure for me.”

Sooraj also revealed that it was ‘familial love’ which Jiah was longing for. He also added that he was the one who saved her when she tried to commit suicide six months before her death. For the unversed, Jiah was found hanging at her home in June 2013. It was her purportedly written 6-page letter describing her tumultuous relationship with Sooraj, on the basis of which he was accused of abetment of suicide. The court acquitted him citing the lack of evidence against him. He was present in the court along with his mother Zarina Wahab.
