The Archies star Dot on her soaring popularity on internet: ‘I'm the kind of artist who often ignores sensible advice’

Even before Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix film The Archies released, movie lovers were already swooning over the track Sunoh. Soon we fell in love with another song from the coming of age comedy drama, titled Dhishoom Dhishoom. For the uninitiated, both of these popular and much loved tracks were helmed by Aditi Saigal, better known by her stage name Dot. The young budding star not only won us over with her performance as Ethel Muggs in Zoya’s film but also made us dance to her beats. Currently, she is one of the most engaged Gen Z actor-artiste on the internet, enjoying an engagement rate of 24-26% on social media posts.

Along with popularity comes a lot of responsibility. But Dot is handling it wonderfully well. Talking about her fan following and the love that she receives on social media, Aditi shares, “I've always said that I've been lucky enough that social media has always been kind to me. Since the beginning, the kind of love I've gotten from people about my music has been nothing but heartwarming. I used to call it 'my little corner of the internet'. Of course, since The Archies, it's definitely expanding.”

Dot further adds, “Whether it's music, more films, or some other venture, it's hard not to look back at it all and be grateful to the people following along. Especially since I'm the kind of artist who often ignores sensible advice and does whatever in the world she feels like!” Well, that’s what makes an artist original, unique and an inspiration.

Apart from lending her voice and writing the lyrics of Sunoh, Asymmetrical, Jab Tum Na Theen and Everything Is Politics in the film, Aditi also helmed the four Dear Diary segments picturized on Betty, portrayed by fellow debutante Khushi Kapoor. Also starring Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, Agastya Nanda, Mihir Ahuja and Yuvraj Menda, The Archies is currently streaming on Netflix.
