Tanu Weds Manu 3 script locked! Kangana Ranaut to play triple roles in Aanand L Rai's film with Madhavan | Deets inside

Aanand L Rai’s Tanu Weds Manu is one of the most popular film franchises of Bollywood. The franchise tells the love story of Tanu (played by Kangana Ranaut) and Manu (played by R. Madhavan). Following the successful run of Tanu Weds Manu and Tanu Weds Manu 2, Aanand is all set to start working on Tanu Weds Manu 3 and has reportedly locked the script. After offering a double role for Kangana Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu 2, the filmmaker has gone one step further by giving Kangana the opportunity to play a triple role in the third part of the franchise.

Tanu Weds Manu 3 in making

According to a report by Pinkvilla, director Aanand L Rai and his writing partner, Himanshu Sharma have locked the script of Tanu Weds Manu 3. The report added that the third part will continue from the point where the first and second parts ended.  Reported to be a beautiful blend of romance and comedy, the film is expected to release in the second half of 2026. It is revealed that the film will go on floors by July / August 2025.

“It’s a sequel in true sense and the makers have come across a story that organically leads itself to a trilogy. Staying true to the world of parts one and two, the third installment too will be a blend of humor with romance and drama,” the report stated.

Kangana Ranaut in triple roles

While Tanu Weds Manu 2 featured the double role of actress Kangana Ranaut, the third installment is reported to feature the actress in triple roles. Speaking about Kangana’s response to the challenging role, the report revealed, “Kangana is excited to explore the first triple role of her career and is awaiting a complete narration from Aanand L Rai. The film will give her the opportunity to dive into new shades of a performer.”

Aanand is currently busy shooting for Dhanush and Kriti Sanon starrer Tere Ishq Mein, while Kangana Ranaut is awaiting the release of her political drama film Emergency. Madhavan, on the other hand, last appeared alongside actor Ajay Devgn in Shaitaan and has also signed an action-adventure film with director Aditya Dhar. The film will feature actor Ranveer Singh in the titular role.

Tanu Weds Manu 3

Helmed by Aanand L Rai, Tanu Weds Manu, starring Kangana and Madhavan, released in 2011. The sequel film, Tanu Weds Manu 2, released four years later in 2015. After a gap of 11 years, Tanu Weds Manu 3 is expected to hit the theatres in 2026.
