Taapsee Pannu recently got married to longtime boyfriend and Badminton player Mathias Boe. The Danish player, who has been training Badminton players Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy since 2021, is attending the Paris Olympics 2024.

Now Taapsee has now revealed that she will be attending the Paris Olympics; she calls it a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity.’

Speaking about attending the Paris Olympics this year, Taapsee revealed, “I don’t think I can go there in the capacity of an athlete. I first met Mathias when he had already come back from the Olympics after winning his medal (in 2012). And the next Olympics he took part in as an athlete, I didn’t want to attend because I get really stressed watching him play.”

Taapsee added that Satvik and Chirag are probably one of the best contenders to win an Olympic medal and she feels motivated and excited to attend the Paris Olympics and cheer for them. She said, “Also, it is around my birthday (August 1), so I guess these are enough and more reasons for me to be at the Olympics.”

The actress revealed that she will reach Paris on July 29, when the team would have already played two matches, but she is hopeful that they will play the finals also. “But I am hopeful they will be in the finals, so I’ve booked my return tickets after the finals of the men’s doubles,” said Taapsee.

    Taapsee on her birthday celebrations

Speaking about her birthday celebrations, Taapsee said that she does not have anything planned but she is hoping that it will be a special one as the Indian badminton team will be playing in the quarter finals for men’s doubles. She hopes that the celebrations will be the victory. “That will be the best birthday gift,” she said.

Talking about watching other events, Taapsee said that she wants to be in the audience for other sporting events that do not get that much access. She said, “We don't really get to see many sports or have access, or awareness to so many of them in comparison to how much we indulge in cricket. So, I just want to be a part of those sports as an audience member.”

Taapsee concluded by saying that she will probably become the biggest cheerleader of squash in the next edition when it officially becomes a part of the Olympics.
