Sushant Singh Rajput case: NCB charges Rhea Chakraborty with receiving and paying for multiple ganja deliveries
Sushant, 34 was found dead in his Mumbai Apartment in June 2020. After his death, a high-profile investigation was launched in which Rhea, her brother Showik and others were accused of procuring and consuming ganja, LSD, cocaine, and other drugs.
The charge sheet filed by Narcotics Control Bureau against actor Rhea Chakraborty claimed that she received multiple deliveries of ganja from co-accused, including her brother Showik. The actress made payments for those deliveries and handed them over to her late boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput .
The anti-drug agency added that between March and September 2020, the actress made payments for the deliveries at Sushant and Showik’s instance. All 35 accused including Sushant’s home manager Samuel Miranda and cook Dipesh Sawant and others, entered into a criminal conspiracy to finance drug trafficking of drugs in high society and Bollywood between March and December 2020.
Among its charges, NCB has invoked section 27A of the NDPS Act( illicit trafficking and harbouring of offenders), which attracts a maximum sentence of 20 years. After hearing arguments on the proposed changes, the special court will decide which charges, if any, are to be framed against the accused or if they are to be dropped.

Last month, the NCB filed draft charges against all accused under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act including sections 27 and 27A (financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders) 28 (punishment for attempts to commit offences), 29 (whoever abets, or is a party to a criminal conspiracy).
Meanwhile, Rhea was arrested in the case in September 2020. After almost a month of arrest, the Bombay High Court granted her bail and directed her to deposit a personal bond of ₹ 1 lakh. While Showik was granted after three months of his arrest. The actress had called the allegations against her a ‘witch-hunt’. Currently, the CBI is probing Sushant’s death, which the police had said was a suicide.
