Suriya and Thalapathy Vijay are two of the greatest stars in Tamil cinema, with an immense fan following. While Suriya continues to captivate audiences with his exciting projects in the film industry, Thalapathy Vijay recently announced his departure from acting to pursue his political ambitions.
Suriya sends a shoutout to Thalapathy Vijay
Vijay, who is set to make a grand entry into politics with his party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), has scheduled a major conference today, October 27, in Villupuram. Kanguva actor Suriya, who recently held a grand audio launch event for his upcoming film, extended his warm wishes to his "dear friend" and fellow actor, Thalapathy Vijay.
In one of his speeches at the audio launch, Suriya wished Thalapathy Vijay all the best in his new political journey, which was met with huge applause from the audience. He said, "My friend is on a new journey today, and I wish him all the best for his new path."
As Suriya gave a shoutout to Vijay on his new venture, the entire stadium erupted in cheers, witnessing the strong bond shared by the Tamil stars.
Vijay’s shoutout for Kanguva
Earlier, in a scene from Thalapathy Vijay’s latest film, The Greatest of All Time, his character can be seen using a phone wallpaper featuring Suriya’s film Kanguva, which won many hearts on the internet. Fans, who did not expect a nod from Vijay to Suriya's film, were impressed by the affection shared between the Kollywood stars. Although fans often pit them against each other, Vijay and Suriya have shown otherwise.
For those unversed, Vijay and Suriya have worked together in two films—Suriya’s debut film Nerrukku Ner (1997), and Friends (2001).
Vijay’s Ambitious political debut
Thalapathy Vijay is now gearing up for a massive rally in Villupuram, in the town of Vikravandi. The political conference comes eight months after actor Vijay launched his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Although TVK has not yet participated in any elections, it is preparing for the 2026 Assembly elections and has already generated significant public interest.
Thalapathy Vijay announced his departure from movies and also revealed that his upcoming film with H. Vinoth, Thalapathy 69, will be the last film of his career.
Meanwhile, Suriya is eagerly awaiting the release of his period fantasy action drama, Kanguva, which is slated to hit the big screens on November 14, 2024.
