Tamil superstar Suriya expressed his gratitude to Bollywood star Akshay Kumar for starring in the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru. Sarfira is also the 150th film in Akshay's career.

"Sarfira will always be an important film for all of us! @akshaykumar Sir, thank you for choosing Sarfira as your 150th film. You’ve made Veer come alive so beautifully. @Sudha_Kongara, you’ve lived this dream for so many years. Happy our film is in theatres now. #RadhikkaMadan is superb as Rani. @SirPareshRawal is just brilliant. Thank you @vikramix @rajsekarpandian @2D_ENTPVTLTD. We now have beautiful lifetime memories!" Suriya reviewed Sarfira.

Suriya watched Sarfira at a celebrity premiere recently, along with his wife Jyothika. Akshay and the film's lead actress, Radhika Madan, also attended the screening.

Suriya also revealed that life has come full circle for Jyothika, who is said to be a huge fan of Akshay Kumar. Now, she is the producer of the film starring him.

"#Jo had Akshay sir’s poster as a teenager & now she’s a proud producer..! Love & respects to @CaptGopinath. Here’s wishing the cast & crew of our Sarfira a soaring success! @gvprakash #Sarfira in cinemas from today," Suriya added.

Sarfira opened in cinemas on July 12 and is garnering mixed reactions. It is based on a memoir titled Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey, which narrates the struggles of G. R. Gopinath, who revolutionized the Indian aviation sector. Gopinath is celebrated as a pioneer who made air travel affordable for working-class Indians by introducing low-cost airlines.

Writer-director Sudha Kongara adapted Gopinath's memoir and explored how deeply embedded caste prejudices kept air travel a distant and unachievable dream for the majority of the country's population.

Suriya won the National Award for his performance in Soorarai Pottru. The film was released directly on streaming owing to the pandemic.
