Suriya 44: Karthik Subbaraj reveals Suriya's retro avatar and it's intriguing

Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj began shooting his movie with Tamil superstar Suriya on Sunday in Port Blair, Andaman. To commemorate the occasion, he revealed the first shot of the film, a simple scene set against the backdrop of sprawling oceans.

The scene opens with a man sitting on a compound wall with his luggage, facing the ocean. As the camera moves closer, Santhosh Narayanan's suspenseful background score chimes in. The camera zooms in, and the man turns to look directly into it. Suriya, sporting a classic horseshoe moustache, looks intense. While it's unclear what's brewing inside him, it’s evident that he has come to the shores of Andaman with a plan to wreak havoc.

Suriya's look for the movie seems a bit retro: a multi-coloured striped shirt tucked inside blue jeans, complemented by socks, shoes, and a belt—all suggesting the film might be a period piece. However, more information is needed for a definitive statement.

Suriya 44 marks Suriya's maiden collaboration with Karthik Subbaraj, creating significant anticipation. The film stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead, with Karuna Karan, Joju George, and Jayaram in supporting roles. The producers have planned an extended shooting schedule in Andaman.

Earlier, Karthik expressed his happiness about the opportunity to work with Suriya, calling him an "excellent performer."

Meanwhile, Suriya is awaiting the release of Kanguva. The film has been completed and is ready for release, though the filmmakers have not yet confirmed the release date, keeping fans guessing. With the Lok Sabha elections concluded, an announcement on the film's release plans is expected soon.

Kanguva is one of the most expensive films in Suriya's career. It's a fantasy drama set against the backdrop of the medieval world. Suriya's warlord avatar and impressive special effects are expected to be the highlights of the movie.
