Rajinikanth receives UAE's golden visa
Superstar Rajinikanth is the latest celebrity from the South Indian film industry to receive the coveted UAE’s golden visa. He received the visa at an event in Dubai, organized by the UAE Department of Culture and Tourism. He was accompanied by MA Yusuff Ali, the chairman and managing director of Lulu Group.
Before Rajinikanth, the UAE granted the golden visa to other South superstars, including Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan, and Tovino Thomas, to name a few. Some of the leading Bollywood stars, including Sanjay Dutt, Sania Mirza, Boney Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Ranveer Singh, also hold the golden visa.
In 2020, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, introduced the golden visa, which is valid for a period of 10 years. It's offered to some of the most talented individuals to come and build businesses in the Gulf country.
Last week, Rajinikanth flew to Dubai without any clear announcements. Later, social media was flooded with videos of Rajinikanth enjoying a jolly ride in Dubai with MA Yusuff Ali.
On the career front, Rajinikanth recently finished shooting for his upcoming movie, Vettaiyan. Written and directed by T. J. Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame, the film is set to hit the screens in October. Billed as a cop drama, the movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan in key roles.
Actor Rana Daggubati, who is also playing a supporting role in the movie, described Vettaiyan as a "unique film" in Rajinikanth's career.
After returning to India, Rajinikanth will join the sets of director Lokesh Kanagaraj's next movie, Coolie. The film is expected to go on the floors in June.
