    After Laal Singh Chadha’s debacle, Aamir Khan is all set to redeem himself at the box office with RS Prasanna’s sports drama Champion. Besides that, he has also reunited with his Andaz Apna Apna filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, this time to produce his upcoming project featuring Sunny Deol. As per reports, the much-anticipated project is based on an acclaimed Punjabi play which is set against the backdrop of the 1947 India-Pakistan partition.

    According to reports, the film will be based on the Punjabi play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai’ which revolves around a Muslim family that migrates from Lucknow to Lahore to stay in Haveli. However, an old Hindu woman refuses to leave the Haveli, which sets the drama. The upcoming film will be high on emotion and will feature Sunny Deol in the lead role. While the pre-production is underway, the shooting is set to begin by the end of 2023 or January 2024 as per reported by Pinkvilla.

    It is also being reported that the partition drama will be backed by Aamir Khan Productions and Jio Studios. Earlier, Rajkumar Santoshi attempted to make the movie with Anil Kapoor in 2013 but it didn’t work out for unknown reasons. He again tried to revive it in 2018 with Sunny Deol, but due to budget constraints, it never went on the floor. With the support of Aamir Khan, the film’s shooting will soon start.     Meanwhile, Aamir is reportedly preparing to start filming the sports drama, which is an official adaption of the 2018 Spanish hit Campeones. It is a story about the human spirit, in which he plays the role of a mentor. On the other hand, Sunny is basking in the success of Gadar 2, the sequel to his 2001 film. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film has shattered several records at the box office. He recently beat the record of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan's box office collection in India, by earning ₹524.75 crore.
