Filmmaker Sudha Kongara seems to have approached Sivakarthikeyan to play the lead in her next directorial outing. An official confirmation is awaited.
Sudha Kongara has been quietly working on her next film without making any announcements after her big production with Tamil superstar Suriya was put on the back burner recently. Speculations are rife about her next project, including her interest in working with Dhruv Vikram. However, nothing has been confirmed.
Some industry sources claim that she has now approached Sivakarthikeyan, who has emerged as one of the top choices of filmmakers in Tamil cinema at the moment.
Sudha Kongara was earlier supposed to start shooting her next film with Suriya. She also announced the main star cast, which included Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Varma, and Nazriya. It was believed to be a period drama inspired by real-life events. However, after the initial hype, the project was delayed, citing the need for extensive pre-production preparation. "Puranaanooru requires more time. This collaboration is very special and close to our hearts. We are working towards giving you our best. We will be going into production very soon. Thank you for your constant love and support," said Suriya in a statement.
Puranaanooru would be Suriya's second collaboration with Sudha Kongara after Soorarai Pottru. Suriya has now moved on to his other projects. He will soon join the sets of Karthik Subbaraj's upcoming movie, which is yet to be named.
In the meantime, Sivakarthikeyan wrapped up his portions for his upcoming action movie, Amaran. Bankrolled by Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, Amaran is a biopic drama based on the life of a slain Indian soldier. Written and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film is getting ready to hit the screens soon.
