Stuntman Ezhumalai dies on Karthi's Sardar 2 set, sparks investigation into safety lapses
The police are investigating the lack of safety measures, and the filmmakers of Sardar 2 have yet to comment on the incident.

In tragic news, stuntman Ezhumalai died on Wednesday while working on the sets of the upcoming movie Sardar 2, starring Karthi. The incident seems to have happened while filming a fight sequence on Tuesday at Prasad Film Lab in Saligramam.
According to TV reports, Ezhumalai was rehearsing for the fight sequence without any safety gear. He fell from a 20-foot height and suffered serious injuries. He was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
The police are said to be investigating the reason behind not providing safety equipment to the stuntman while shooting for Sardar 2. The producers have not reacted to the incident yet. Neither director PS Mithran nor Karthi has issued a statement on the untimely death of Ezhumalai.

The safety standards for cast and crew, especially those involved in stunt coordination, are a big concern in the Indian film industry. There have been several instances in the past where crew members died due to a lack of safety measures on sets.
The production of Sardar 2 went on the floors only a few weeks ago. The film is a sequel to the spy drama Sardar. Written and directed by PS Mithran, Sardar became a huge hit at the box office in 2022, encouraging the filmmakers to immediately announce the sequel. Sardar 2 is bankrolled by Prince Pictures, who also produced the first part. The sequel will star SJ Suryah in a key role, with speculations rife that he's playing the main antagonist.
