Stree 2: Spin-off film based on Shraddha Kapoor’s character to be made?

Shraddha Kapoor is one of the leading ladies in Bollywood who has featured in several blockbuster films such as Stree, Ek Villain, and Chhichhore among others. The actress’ recently released horror-comedy film, Stree 2, has been dominating the box office. Speaking about a possible spin-off film based on Shraddha Kapoor’s character in the film, writer Niren Bhatt revealed that the backstory of Shraddha's character as Stree’s daughter will be explored in future films.

Spin-off film based on Shraddha Kapoor’s character?

During a conversation with Zoom, Niren Bhatt revealed details about the future films in the Stree franchise. The writer said that the back story of Shraddha Kapoor’s character as Stree’s daughter will be explored in future films. The writer further revealed that there are multiple supernatural elements being discussed surrounding Maddock’s horror-comedy universe which can’t be revealed right now. Films like Stree, Stree 2, Munjya and Bhediya are part of Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe and Varun Dhawan’s character from Bhediya even had a cameo in Stree 2, revealing further association of the films with each other. Speaking about these characters, Niren said, “We are thinking of expanding their stories. I don't know how, when, and in which films they will come, but they will come.”

Shraddha Kapoor is revealed as Stree’s daughter in the film who remains unnamed. The mysterious character was first introduced to the audience in 2018-released film Stree, at the end of which Shraddha’s character leaves the town and goes missing.

Stree 2 even featured a cameo performance from actor Akshay Kumar. Stree 2 follows the story of Vicky, who lives in a town called Chanderi which is haunted by a spirit called Sarkata who abducts women. After suffering at the hands of Sarkata, the townspeople seek help from Stree’s daughter (Shraddha).

Helmed by Jayprad Desai, Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi, released on August 15. The film clashed at the box office with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham-starrer Vedaa.
