Stree 2 box office collection: Shraddha Kapoor starrer becomes second-highest grossing film; surpasses Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan

After becoming the biggest opener of 2024 and breaking box office records of SS Rajamouli's 2017 action epic Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer horror-comedy film, Stree 2 has now surpassed Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's Pathaan. The Amar Kaushik directorial has collected Rs 527 crore at the domestic box office.

Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2 smashes the box office record of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan

On Sunday, Stree 2 earned a total of Rs 527 crore within three weeks of its release. The film surpassed the gross domestic box office earnings of Pathaan which collected a total of Rs 524.53 crore and became the second highest grossing Hindi film in India.

On Saturday, Stree 2 collected a total of Rs 516.25 crore and beat SS Rajamouli's epic film Baahubali 2: The Conclusion starring Prabhas and became the third highest-grossing Hindi film in India.

Now, to reach the top spot, Stree 2 has to surpass the domestic box office collection of Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Deepika Padukone starrer Jawan which stands at Rs 582.31 crore.

About Stree 2

Starring Rajkummar, Shraddha, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, Stree 2 was released on August 15, 2024. The horror-comedy film became the biggest opener of 2024 after earning Rs 51.8 crore on day one of its release.

The film faced a box office clash with John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh's Vedaa and Akshay Kumar and Vaani Kapoor starrer Khel Khel Mein. Stree 2 has been selling tickets with no tough competition at the box office. The box office earnings of the film might be impacted after the release of Kareena Kapoor Khan's The Buckingham Murders.

Stree 2 is a sequel to Amar Kaushik’s 2018 released film Stree. It is set in the fictional town of Chanderi which is haunted by the spirit of Sarkata who abducts women with modern thinking. The people of Chanderi seek help from Stree’s daughter (played by Shraddha) to fight Sarkata. Rajkummar plays the role of Vicky in the film who falls in love with Shraddha’s character in the film.
