Stree 2 - 5 reasons to watch Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao's horror comedy
Whenever one utters the line 'O Stree Kal Aana’, a person is transported into a magical and eerie land of Chanderi, the very location which gave ‘birth’ to a film named Stree, which starred the beautiful Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. Thanks to the film’s unique premise, it gradually went on to become a huge box office success!
Buoyed by the runaway success of Stree, the film’s makers went on to make the films’ sequel, which they titled Stree 2 and rightfully so! This time round, the makers had decided the film’s tagline as ‘O Stree raksha karna’. The film is all set to be released this week, along with two other films in the form of Akshay Kumar- Vaani Kapoor starrer Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham-Sharvari starrer Vedaa! In case you are confused about which film to be seen, here are the 5 reasons for you to watch the Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao starrer Stree 2.
The ‘history’ of Stree!
Needless to say, given the fact that a film’s sequel gets released when the original film/ first part was a ‘monster’ of a hit (no pun intended!), the excitement and curiosity regarding the sequel gets upped and how! Ditto is the case with Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao's horror comedy Stree 2. Given the fact that the film’s first part Stree was a major hit at the box office, the curiosity regarding its sequel is definitely beyond to get the audiences to the theatres!
The film’s premise!
Gone are the days when the makers of any horror film used to take resort to heavy duty prosthetics in order to create an eerie atmosphere on the silver screen. With the film Stree, the film’s makers showed that it is not at all compulsory for a film to have resorted to prosthetics to bring alive the film’s horror narrative.
This time round, even though one could see prosthetics being used on Shraddha Kapoor’s face, there are multitude of advanced graphics which are bound to work ‘magic’ on the silver screen. The film Stree 2 walks on the storyline with a tagline which states ‘sarkate ka aatank’ (atrocities of a headless person).
The ‘OG’ cast is being retained!
Unlike a few films, the sequel of Stree (which has been titled as Stree 2), sees the film’s leading pair being retained like that in the original / first part of the film. It's only a given that the onscreen chemistry between Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in Stree was one of the reasons for the film to hit the jackpot at the box office.
And in order to continue the resonance with the cinegoers, the film’s makers have retained the magical and original leading pair, which is all set to enthral the audiences yet again with their magical chemistry.
Lovely haunting music!
Gone are the days when the musical instruments used to screech their volumes out to create a sense of eeriness in the minds of the audiences while watching a horror film. Just like the original film Stree, its sequel Stree 2 also boasts of some of the lovely music. Be it the film’s soundtrack or the gripping background music, the film seems to have everything that it takes to make the film’s makers sit on a goldmine!
Haunting trailer!
There is a popular adage which states that, ‘Never judge a book by its cover’. But, in the case of Stree 2, it's only legit to judge the book (the film) by its cover (the gripping trailer). Ever since the time the film’s trailer has been released, it has only upped the curiosity and the excitement in everyone’s minds to see the film at the earliest!
Speaking about the film Stree 2, besides Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, it also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana in important roles. While the film has been directed by Amar Kaushik, it has been produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande.
The film is all set to be released on August 15. Do follow DesiMartini on X (previously known as Twitter) for all the latest updates.
