Star box office collection Day 3: Kavin-starrer soars high, total collection crosses Rs 15 crore

There is no stopping the Kavin-starrer Star at the box office! The Elan directorial emotional drama, which released on May 10, continues to make record numbers at the box office. The Tamil film revolves around an ambitious young talent Kalai, who aspires to become an actor one day. The film stars Kavin, Lal, Geetha Kailasam and Aaditi Pohankar in prominent roles. Despite strong competition from Tamannaah Bhatia-starrer Aranmanai 4 at the box office, the Elan directorial continues to maintain strong momentum. Here’s how much Star earned on day 3 at the box office:

According to the film's production house, the Kavin-starrer earned approximately Rs 4 crore on its third day, taking its total collection to over Rs 15 crore. The film also enjoyed a massive Tamil occupancy of 54.55%. Despite strong competition from other non-Tamil releases, Kavin’s Star continues to make a steady growth.

Upon its release, viewers found the film to be an engaging drama, with praise pouring in for the impressive writing. Fans have heaped praise on director Elan for offering a unique and emotionally engaging film. Incidentally, Arjun Das’ Rasavathi which was also released alongside Kavin’s film has failed to compete with the emotional drama as Star benefitted from positive word-of-mouth and a strong performance by Kavin, who enjoys a loyal fanbase among Tamilians. 

If the film continues to maintain the same growth, the film can expect to rake in more than Rs 20-25 crore by the end of this week.

Kavin’s Star

Directed by Pyaar Prema Kaadhal-fame director Elan, Star features Kavin in the lead. The movie follows the journey of Kalai, played by Kavin, who aspires to be an actor. However, life throws him challenges along the way, making his road to success more difficult than ever. How he overcomes these obstacles to achieve his dream, forms the crux of the story. The film stars Kavin, Lal, Geetha Kailasam, Preity Mukhundan and Aaditi Pohankar in key roles. The film also features three surprise cameos appearances.
