Somy Ali reveals if Salman Khan should apologize to Bishnoi community: 'Don't want anyone murdered, in Bollywood or Hollywood'
Many may be aware that Salman Khan and the former actor Somy Ali were dating in the nineties, before calling it quits. While Salman Khan continued his innings in Bollywood and worked his way up to become one of the reigning superstars, Somy Ali had relocated to the USA, where she had started off with her NGO ‘No More Tears’.
Recently, Somy Ali was in an interview with India Today, where she spoke about whether Salman Khan should be apologising to Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the alleged killing of the black buck. On her part, Somy said, " why should he (while referring to Salman Khan) apologise for something he didn't know about and that was like, she added, doing something inadvertently, unintentionally and being forced to apologise for it… which made no sense.
She added that it was a perception amongst the people who think that Salman happened to be very arrogant and that he had a reputation. In the same breath, she added, “I have nothing to do with him or his family today. I just don't want anyone murdered, in Bollywood or Hollywood. Violence is never the answer."
She also added that, while Salman happens to be a very kind person who has an NGO, and that he did not know that the animal was worshipped by that tribe. She also questioned whether Salman was the only person who goes hunting in that area… but… because he is ‘Salman Khan’, they were after him.
When Somy Ali was questioned whether Salman Khan had ever spoken to her about the said incident, she said he had told her that he had no idea and that (everything) was just absurd. And when asked about her recent post regarding her request to meet Lawrence Bishnoi., she said that her post was misconstrued as sarcasm and a joke, but that wasn't her intention.
About the same, she said, ‘My post was completely misconstrued. They thought I was being sarcastic about the fact that he's in a prison, and I was making a joke about it. But, I wasn't. I actually called my mother and told her that 'you know, they allow Zoom calls in Indian prisons'. I was realistically shocked and couldn't fathom people making Zoom calls in American prisons. So, that's one’.
In the same interview, Somy also offered her condolences to the late Siddique's family by saying that, whatever had happened to Mr Baba Siddique, she wanted to wish her deepest condolences to his son, Zeeshan, and his entire family. She added that she was very sorry that happened and that she did not know Baba Siddique but was sorry for him the way she would have been sorry for anyone who's killed like him.
