Sivakarthikeyan reviews Harish Kalyan starrer Lubber Pandhu: 'I felt proud watching the movie...’

Ahead of the much-anticipated release of the Harish Kalyan-starrer cricket-based film Lubber Pandhu, the makers recently hosted preview shows for critics and celebrities, who have been left in awe of the film. After KKR cricketer Varun Chakaravarthy’s review, Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan also shared his thoughts on the film after attending the premiere.

Sivakarthikeyan heaps praise on Lubber Pandhu

In a video shared by the makers, Sivakarthikeyan is seen seated alongside filmmaker Tamizharasan Pachamuthu and others, praising the film. He called it a "complete movie" and expressed pride. He also said that he felt as if he had been part of its making. The actor specifically lauded Attakathi Dinesh’s portrayal of an elderly man, appreciating the nuanced performance. He also praised supporting actress Swasika for delivering an impactful performance. Sivakarthikeyan seemed to thoroughly enjoy the film and congratulated the team for presenting such an entertaining film to Tamil audiences.

The actor said in Tamil which loosely translates to, "The first thing I felt after watching the film was that it felt complete. I felt proud watching the movie as if I were part of the team."

Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders cricketer Varun Chakaravarthy praised Lubber Pandhu, describing it as a memorable portrayal of street cricket that resonates with audiences. Reflecting on his own childhood experiences playing with a rubber ball, Varun noted how the film captures the essence of rural street cricket. He expressed confidence that the film would be well-received in Tamil cinema and wished the team great success.

Moreover, the film has been receiving overwhelming responses after its premiere show and is expected to be another worthy flick coming soon.

About Lubber Pandhu

Helmed by debutant filmmaker Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, the movie centers on a light-hearted rivalry between two talented local cricketers. Attakathi Dinesh plays Gethu, a popular gully cricketer in his town, while Harish Kalyan’s character, Anbu, is another highly skilled cricketer among his peers. The film explores the ego clash between the two men. Besides Harish Kalyan and Attakathi Dinesh, actresses Swasika and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy play the female leads. On the technical front, the music is composed by Sean Roldan, with cinematography by Dinesh Purushothaman and editing by G. Madan.

As reported earlier, the OTT rights for the film have been acquired by Disney+ Hotstar, and it will be available for streaming on the platform after its theatrical release.

Lubber Pandhu is slated for release on September 20, 2024.
