As acclaimed director Mari Selvaraj’s upcoming film Vaazhai gears up for its big theatrical release on August 23, 2024, the makers organized a pre-release event that was attended by many industry figures, including actors and filmmakers. A few celebrities, who could not attend the event, conveyed their messages through video clips that were played during the event.

Sivakarthikeyan, whose video message about Mari Selvaraj was played at the event, shared his views on the upcoming film and praised the director's unique filmmaking style.

The Amaran actor revealed that the film is based on an incident from the director's life and that its poignant aspect is what will draw audiences to the theatres. “Mari Selvaraj is one of the most powerful filmmakers in Tamil cinema, who has never shied away from presenting hard-hitting stories to the public. He has shared a story that happened to him in real life,” the actor revealed.

He further added that while one might assume the film is based on a positive incident, it is, in fact, inspired by a deeply personal and sorrowful experience. He noted that it takes a lot of courage to make a film about one's pain. “Mari has delivered a story that has hurt him deeply. When we make films about underprivileged people, capturing their sorrow, happiness, and other emotions, it makes the film even more beautiful,” the actor observed.

The actor also praised the production design, soundtracks, and especially the performances of the lead actors, which helped him connect even more with the film.

Interestingly, Vaazhai and Sivakarthikeyan-backed film Kottukkaali are clashing at the box office on the same date, August 23, 2024.
