Sidhu Moosewala's last rites to be performed at his ancestral land, thousands of fans gather to pay respects
Renowned Punjabi singer-rapper Sidhu Moosewala’s brutal murder has his fans and the entire film fraternity still reeling from a state of shock and grief. Sidhu was shot dead not far from his home in Mansa district in Punjab and Canadian-based gangster Goldy Brar has taken up the responsibility for his assassination. Sidhu’s last rites will be held today (May 31) at his family’s ancestral land and thousands of his fans gathered outside his home to pay their respects.

Renowned Punjabi singer-rapper Sidhu Moosewala’s brutal murder has his fans and the entire film fraternity still reeling from a state of shock and grief. Sidhu was shot dead not far from his home in Mansa district in Punjab and Canadian-based gangster Goldy Brar has taken up the responsibility for his assassination. Sidhu’s last rites will be held today (May 31) at his family’s ancestral land and thousands of his fans gathered outside his home to pay their respects.
According to a news report in The Hindustan Times, Sidhu Moosewala’s body was brought to his family home today morning amidst a strong security arrangement. A large crowd thronged outside his house while the police authorities only allowed the family members and close friends of the late singer to enter the stage. Moosewala’s family has decided to perform the last rites at their ancestral land located in the Moosa village of Mansa district which is also reportedly the birthplace of the singer.
The report further stated that some fans gathered outside Sidhu Moosewala’s home were also shouting slogans against the state government. The assassination of the singer has now led to a state of anger against the Bhagwant Mann government. ‘ The Last Ride ’ singer was shot dead just a day after his security was lifted by the government.

The report went on to state that the Punjab government will review the decision of downgrading Sidhu Moosewala’s security amidst an angry uproar amongst his fans. The decision was reportedly taken by the state government to curb the VIP culture in Punjab. On Monday (May 30), the family of the singer refused to do a post-mortem of his body after the police officials stated that his murder might be linked to an inter-gang rivalry.

According to the report, Punjab DGP VK Bhawra revealed that he had the highest regard for Sidhu Moosewala and he denied calling the latter a ‘gangster.’ The report quoted him to state, “Claims and counterclaims by various persons claiming to be gangsters are coming on social media. One Goldy Brar has claimed responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.”
