Alka Yagnik is one of the most celebrated singers in the country and has lent her voice to iconic songs such as Yeh Bandhan Toh, Gore Gore Mukhde Pe, Aaye Ho Meri Zindagi Mein, among others. Speaking about the perils of her professional life, Alka Yagnik revealed that she is suffering from hearing loss caused by a rare sensory neural nerve issue that is the result of a viral attack. The singer also cautioned her young fans and colleagues against exposure to very loud music and wearing headphones for long durations. Her post has shocked the film industry and her colleagues are praying for her fast recovery.
Alka Yagnik suffers from hearing loss
Alka recently shared a picture of herself to speak about her health issues. Recalling an incident when she couldn't hear at all, Alka wrote, “To all my fans, friends, followers and well wishers. A few weeks ago, as I walked out of a flight, I suddenly felt I was not able to hear anything. Having mustered some courage in the weeks following the episode, I want to break my silence now for all my friends and well wishers who have been asking me why I’m missing in action.”
She further revealed the cause of her hearing loss and wrote, “It has been diagnosed by my docs as a rare sensory neural nerve hearing loss, due to a viral attack…This sudden, major setback has caught me completely unawares. As I attempt to come to terms with it please keep me in your prayers.”
In her caption, Alka also spoke about the perils of her professional life and cautioned young fans and colleagues against exposure to very loud music and wearing headphones for long durations. She wrote, “For my fans and young colleagues, I would add a word of caution regarding exposure to very loud music and headphones. One day, I wish to share the health perils of my professional life.”
The singer concluded and wrote, “With all your love and support I am hoping to recalibrate my life and come back to you soon. Your support and understanding will mean the world to me in this critical hour….”

Alka’s fans and colleagues from the industry were shocked to hear the news and commented on her post. Singer Ila Arun wrote, “So sorry to hear this. Dearest Alka I saw your picture and reacted, but the I read, it’s heartbreaking, But With Blessings. And today’s Best Doctors you will be fine and soon we will be hearing your sweet voice Love you always take care.”
