Shatrughan Sinha says 'as expected' Shah Rukh Khan didn't thank him for supporting Aryan Khan in drug case

Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha has expressed his disappointment at not receiving a note of thanks from Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan till now, after he vocally extended his support to his son Aryan Khan who was interrogated in a drug bust by the Narcotics Control Bureau last year.

Shatrughan Sinha had dissed the arrest of Aryan Khan in October last year when the star-kid was taken into judicial custody by the Narcotics Control Bureau after they raided a party aboard the Cordelia Cruise ship. The star kid remained in jail for nearly a month despite no drugs having been found on him and Shah Rukh Khan who put all work commitments on hold during the period was extended support by a flurry of Bollywood celebrities including Shatrughan Sinha.

The veteran actor told Nation Next in an interview that despite being one the biggest voices in the city of Mumbai to have lent support to Aryan, the Bollywood star didn’t even acknowledge him with a thank you.

He said, “As a parent, I felt Shah Rukh Khan’s pain. Even if he was guilty, instead of rehabilitating him, they locked him up… I should also say that, as expected, I didn’t receive a thank you card from Shah Rukh, even though I was maybe the most prominent voice standing up for Aryan in all of Mumbai. But I have a habit of calling a spade a spade, and for standing up for what is right. I stood up against what I believed was an injustice. As far as Shah Rukh is concerned, I didn’t receive any thanks or a thank you card from him.”

Shatrughan Sinha however, also mentioned that he didn’t reach out to the actor after Aryan’s arrest and feel it should have been the other way around where Shah Rukh could have contacted him if needed. He further admitted that his support for Aryan was unsolicited and was asked for by Shah Rukh Khan.

Apart from Shatrughan Sinha, Karan Johar , Juhi Chawla , Hrithik Roshan , Swara Bhasker , Pooja Bhatt and several others extended support to Aryan and Shah Rukh. In May, Aryan was acquitted by the NCB due to lack of evidence against him.
