Filmmaker Shankar is touring across the country promoting his latest movie, Indian 2, which is due in cinemas this Thursday. He was recently in Hyderabad, promoting the film's Telugu version, Bharateeyudu 2, and he cleared the air on several speculations, including the length of Kamal Haasan's screen time.
Speculations were rife that Kamal Haasan would have very limited screen time in Indian 2, while the majority of his portions were in Indian 3. Shankar rubbished the rumours and clarified that the entire narration of Indian 2 solely revolves around Senapathy, aka Indian Thatha, played by Kamal Haasan. "That's not true. He is there throughout the film; even in the scenes where he's not present, the discussions will happen about him. Everything happens around his character," Shankar explained.
Siddharth chimed in with a rather blunt rejoinder while brushing off a question from a media person. "Shankar sir, this question doesn't exist in the outside world. Nobody is saying that Kamal will only appear on screen for a short time, except for this one person," remarked Siddharth.
The filmmakers released the trailer for Indian 2 earlier. Based on that, Indian Thatha is forced to return from his self-imposed exile as the corruption in India spirals out of control and threatens to engulf everything the country's forefathers strived and sacrificed their lives for.
Indian 2 is packed with explosive action sequences, with Senapathy taking on several disguises to fight against the menace of corruption. He restores the armed rebellion against those who encourage and thrive in corruption.
Indian 3 is expected to hit the screens six months after Indian 2. Kamal Haasan earlier noted that he was more excited for and looking forward to the release of Indian 2, sparking intense debates on social media.
