Shah Rukh Khan's brush with underworld: When actor received threats from Chhota Shakeel, Abu Salem

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been granted Y+ by the Maharashtra state government. The actor wrote to the government informing about death threats after successes of Pathan and Jawan.Well, this is the not the first time, the actor has been given threats. He has been under constant radar of Mumbai underworld back in the 90s as well.Like filmmaker Sanjay Gupta rightly said in his recent tweet that the King Khan never gave in.

It was reported that security for Shah Rukh Khan was beefed up around the release of Happy New Year(2014). Four rounds were fired outside producer Karim Morani's Juhu following underworld threats. A note was found at the site of the shooting that said, 'SRK will be the next target.' as per reports.

In 1998, Shah Rukh was offered a film by producer Nazim Rizvi and film financier Bharat Shah. When the actor refused to do the film, Rizvi again approached to him on orders by Don Chhota Shakeel In an interview with TOI, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actor said that he was asked to talk to Shakeel over phone. “I was scared and told Shakeel that I would first listen to the story and decide, "he had said.

In 1990s, Shah Rukh was at the peak of his career with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge release. During that time, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt received a warning from a senior police officer Rakesh Maria that Abu Salem, the mastermind behind Gulshan Kumar’s shooting, is going to kill Shah Rukh. The actor used to receive threatening calls on his mobile from Salem forcing him to work in a film being made by his producer friend. However, Bhatt took him to Maria’s office following which he was provided with tight security.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh is currently geared up for the release of his upcoming film, Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. He also has Tiger vs Pathaan in the making, which stars him opposite superstar Salman Khan.
