Shah Rukh Khan was not convinced with Farhan Akhtar's Don 3 script, were Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Singh the reason?

Shah Rukh Khan ’s comeback on the silver screen is much-awaited, especially after his cameo appearance in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. The actor is cautiously looking for scripts to avoid any more failures after his two consecutive films–Jab Harry Met Sejal(2017) and Zero(2018). Recently, he rejected Farhan Akhtar ’s Don 3 script since he was not convinced with it. And now the details of the script are finally out and it has a connection with megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Singh .

According to Bollywood Hungama, Farhan’s script which he showed to SRK had an idea of getting Amitabh Bachchan onboard. Also, Ranveer was supposed to have a cameo so that he takes over the franchise by playing the future don. A source close to the news portal said, “Farhan had an ambitious idea of getting Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan together in the third installment. Interestingly, Bachchan saab was the lead in the original Don (1978). It had a different ending and showed the good-natured Vijay surviving and Don dying, while SRK’s version showed vice versa. Hence, it’s not clear whether or not Big B was supposed to play the role from the original version. However, Farhan definitely had thought of casting Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in Don 3.”

Further, the source added, “And that’s not all. As per Farhan’s plot, Don 3 was also supposed to have a cameo by Ranveer Singh. He too was going to play Don. The idea was that SRK’s Don character would pass the baton to Ranveer’s Don character so that he can take on the iconic role in the future parts.” Well, the idea was narrated to Shah Rukh but he was not confident about the script, and hence he declined it for time being.

Therefore, Farhan got back to his writing table to improve his script, and hence it is yet to be confirmed if the two actors –Amitabh and Ranveer become part of the film. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh will next be seen in three films —Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, to be released next year.
