Shah Rukh Khan opens up on hiatus of four years, says he waited for daughter Suhana Khan's call for eight months
The Zero actor said it would have been difficult for him to drop his filming schedule and visit his kids. Hence, he stopped working so that he could be more available for his children.
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan recently attended the Red Sea International Film Festival on Thursday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In an interview with Deadline, the actor revealed the real reason behind taking hiatus of four years. He said that he wanted to be more available for his children as his eldest two children Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan went to America for studies.
The Zero actor said it would have been difficult for him to drop his filming schedule and visit his kids. Hence, he stopped working so that he could be more available for his children. He then mentioned that when his Suhana transferred from the UK To New York, he thought she will call if she feels lonely but she never called. “She never called me, I didn’t sign any films and I thought. Maybe she’ll call me, maybe she’ll call me. So, I called her one day and said, ‘Listen, may I start working now?’ and she said, ‘Why aren’t you working?’ And I said, ‘I thought you’d call me and feel lonely in New York,’ ” the actor told the news portal.
Soon after Covid hit and Shah Rukh’s break pushed further. He took up cooking lessons and said that he can now make pizzas and pastas. Then he signed on to star in spy actioner Pathaan backed by Yash Raj Films. The actor also went on to say that nobody was considering him for action at that time. Now, he has decided to take up action films for the next 10 years. “I’ve never done an action film. I’ve done some really sweet love stories, some social dramas, some bad guys but nobody was taking me for action. I am 57 years old so I thought, for the next 10 years I’m going to do action films,” he added.
Shah Rukh recently wrapped the shooting of his upcoming film Dunki directed by Rajkummar Hirani. Talking about it, he said, “It is a story of people who want to come back home when you finally get the calling. It’s a big journey film and goes through different areas around the world and finally comes back home to India.” Earlier, the actor made headlines after a video of him performing Umrah at Mecca went viral. Meanwhile, he will also feature in Atlee’s Jawan co-starring Nayanthara, besides Pathaan and Dunki.
