Sara Ali Khan remembers Sushant Singh Rajput; gets teary-eyed

Sara Ali Khan made her acting debut in Abhishek Kapoor’s 2018 film Kedarnath, which also starred the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The two were also rumoured to be dating and their undeniable chemistry during the promotional tour was all that people could talk about.

The actress recently remembered the actor on his fourth death anniversary and was seen getting teary-eyed in an interview while talking about her first co-star. She said that Sushant was the reason she received so much love for her first film.

During an interview with Mid-Day, Sara spoke about her experience of shooting Kedarnath and recalled fond memories of how Sushant helped at every stage of the shooting.

She said, “There are so many (favourite memories). There was one moment where Gattu sir (director Abhishek Kapoor) was rushing. He and Sushant had worked together before so I just went to Sushant and I was like, ‘I don’t know how to do this. There’s one, this, this line, just show me.’ And he just showed me.”

With tears in her eyes, Sara said that the praise she received for her Hindi or the curious mind that she has was all thanks to Sushant. “Being able to speak Hindi the way that I do is something that people appreciate about me quite often. Whether it’s being as curious as I think I am—so much of it is Sushant. Any love I’ve gotten for Kedarnath, and it’s a lot, it’s just all him,” she added.

About Kedarnath

Helmed by Abhishek Kapoor, Kedarnath starred Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan. It was based on the 2013 Uttarakhand floods that destroyed the holy places of Amarnath and Kedarnath. The film is also about a Hindu-Muslim couple whose families are not in favour of the relationship.

Sushant was found dead at this Bandra, Mumbai, home in June 2020. The police declared that the actor had commited suicide.
