Sara Ali Khan remembers being at her lowest after Love Aaj Kal during Gaslight promotions; says ‘what changed is…’

When it was announced that star kid Sara Ali Khan will soon begin her journey in the Hindi film industry, audiences were intrigued to see how she would do. She won us over in her debut film Kedarnath while her on-screen presence in Ranveer Singh’s Simmba was refreshing. Sadly, her third film Love Aaj Kal failed to impress audiences and did terrible work at the box office, despite the sizzling chemistry with Kartik Aaryan . This was followed by Coolie No. 1, co-starring Varun Dhawan, which ended up as one of the biggest flops of the year.

In a recent chat with Mid Day while promoting her next film Gaslight , Sara remembered how she re-evaluated where she went wrong with Love Aaj Kal during the pandemic. She was quoted saying, “When I felt I was at my lowest with 'Love Aaj Kal,' I was given an opportunity to do 'Atrangi Re' by Aanandji (Aanand L Rai) which was received with love by Chitra ma'am (Chitrangda Singh) among other people. What changed is the re-promise to myself to only do stuff that I fully believe in. Secondly, I want to try every genre, this is the age of exploration for me-I want to be able to make mistakes, learn and grow.”

Well, that is exactly what Sara is doing with Gaslight-- exploring a new genre, an exciting script and donning a never seen before avatar. Directed by Pavan Kirpalani and backed by Ramesh Taurani and Akshai Puri, the film is a murder mystery. Also starring the gorgeous Chitrangada Singh and the versatile Vikrant Massey, it features Sara as Meesha who returns to her home which is a palace, only to find out that her father is missing.

Apart from this exciting film, Sara also has Ae Watan Mere Watan where she plays a freedom fighter, Homi Adajania’s Murder Mubarak and Laxman Utekar's next with Vicky Kaushal.
