Rishi Kapoor was planning Ranbir & Alia Bhatt’s wedding, reveals Subash Ghai; says ‘they’re fulfilling his dream’
Subash Ghai had met Rishi Kapoor in January 2020, when the latter was apparently planning his son Ranbir Kapoor’s wedding to Alia Bhatt. But just a few months later the veteran superstar bid the world a final adieu.
Rumors about Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor ’s wedding have been doing the rounds since the last three years. But it seems like the plans are finally panning out now because the media is convinced that the two will tie the nuptial knot in the coming week. While Ranbir's Bandra house Vastu and the RK Studio have been decked up with lights, their wedding ensembles designed by Sabyasachi have arrived at the venue. Well, recently it was revealed that the couple had actually planned to take the plunge in 2020, but couldn’t because of the pandemic.
Confirming the news, Subhash Ghai told Bombay Times that Ranbir’s late father Rishi Kapoor was very happy about it and was busy planning the wedding just a few months before he breathed his last. The filmmaker revealed, “I remember in January 2020, when I had gone to meet Rishi Kapoor at his home to invite him to receive WWI Maestro award 2020 at our annual convocation of Whistling Woods International. We had a long chat as good friends. He was so happy to share with me that they were planning his son Ranbir’s marriage with Alia in December 2020 in a big way. But he left us all with a deep grief suddenly.”
Veteran superstar Rishi passed away on 30th April 2020 from leukemia. It was an incredibly tough time for the family. While Ranbir and Riddhima became their mother Neetu Kapoor’s pillars of strength, Alia was by her beau’s side all throughout. Well, Ghai is glad that the couple is tying the knot this month. He was quoted saying, “Today, I am so happy that Ranbir and Alia are finally fulfilling his dream. I wish both a happy married life, the way I always did for Rishi and Neetu Kapoor.”
We wish them the same!
